HISTORY
Hertfordshire Press (HP) Award is a literary prize that has been awarded to the publishing house’s authors since 2019 as recognition of their merits and contributions to international cultural heritage.
As most of the books we publish are first published in English, the Award has for many years broken new ground and provided a platform for writers who want to bring their work to a wider audience. The Hertfordshire Press Award is unique in that it judges not only the skill of the writer, but also the originality, relevance and cultural impact of the work.
Unlike many awards, the Hertfordshire Press Award emphasises the potential of a work and its author rather than merit and portfolio, and does not prioritise on a national or any other basis, remaining outside the global political context. The Hertfordshire Press Award is rightly regarded as one of the most prestigious international awards in the world of Eurasian literature, thanks to its unique approach and ongoing commitment to promoting literary talent.
TODAY
This day we celebrate the culture and arts every two years, so we invite you to share this atmosphere of creativity and joy with us at this biennium. Author talks, music performance, art exhibition, book fair, and open microphone are traditionally in the program of Hertfordshire Press Award.
Traditionally held in the UK in the run-up to Christmas, the awards give authors the opportunity to present their work in person and meet their Western readers.
